Introduction

Situated in Cape Town in South Africa, the treatment centre is a 16-bed residential facility providing treatment for drug addiction, alcoholism, gambling, sex addiction, as well as eating disorders. Our addiction treatment philosophy is an abstinence-based programme built on the 12-Steps, led by a multi-disciplinary team of highly qualified and experienced counsellors and expert medical staff. Our clients are detoxified individuals (which we can arrange) who require extended care to develop an individualized, comprehensive and supportive recovery plan. The treatment centre provides a secure, nurturing, compassionate environment in which our residents are guided with dignity and respect by our professional team.

Utilising evidence-based psycho-education, cognitive behavioural therapy, individual and interactional group psychotherapy, and holistic and adventure alternatives we are able to meet the unique needs of each client.

Programme Overview

The treatment centre offers an abstinence based 12-Step addiction treatment program which addresses addictive behaviour around alcohol, illegal and prescription drugs, gambling, eating disorders as well as co-dependency. Our extended care treatment plan utilises individual psychotherapy and group therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, life skills groups, 12-step groups, psycho- educational lectures, specific addiction related groups e.g. eating disorder groups, gender and psychodrama groups, conjoint and family therapy, as well as a comprehensive aftercare program.

The multi-disciplinary team of highly qualified and experienced counsellors and expert medical staff are able to develop effective team management of clients who present with co-occurring mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bi-polar and personality disorders.

The family of our clients are considered an important part of the recovery process and are encouraged to participate in the treatment of their loved ones by attending family groups where possible. Contact with family is welcomed and we ensure that family are kept updated regarding their loved ones progress.

Facilities and accommodation

The treatment centre is a beautiful Victorian home, situated in the heart of a tranquil suburb in Cape Town and is large enough to comfortably accommodate up to sixteen clients. From the balconies upstairs, there are impressive views of both Table Mountain and the Hottentots Holland mountain range. The landscaped garden features a gazebo, a variety of communal areas, quiet areas for reflection and a large swimming pool. The spacious living areas and community style living provide an ideal ‘home from home’ environment to begin a new life in recovery.
