Introduction

The treatment centre provides enhanced, recovery promoting inpatient detoxification and wrap-around support services for people experiencing problematic drug and alcohol use; as well as respite services for problematic stimulant use. The treatment centre provides safe and effective detoxification from addictive substances in a safe and therapeutic environment; where clients can recover in pleasant surroundings for the minimum amount of time necessary and have minimum disruption to their normal lives. Our programmes are designed specifically to meet the needs of all clients including those with entrenched addiction and complex physical and mental health needs. The treatment centre treats everyone as an individual who is an 'expert' in their own recovery and at the focal point of their own personal journey.

What makes us special?

  • The treatment centre combines a safe and sophisticated biomedical approach with an innovative wrap-around support service that includes evidenced based psychosocial interventions, delivered by qualified and skilled staff, in both group and individual settings – all focused on individual client need.
  • Our clinical services are led by a Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist (including out-of-hours Consultant cover), supported by middle grade doctors, GP's, advanced nurse practitioners and pharmacist prescribers.
  • We provide services that deliver both excellent clinical care and sustained support so that successful treatment outcomes are maximised.
  • Our programmes are designed to meet the needs of all clients including those with entrenched addiction and complex needs.
  • A named Detoxification Recovery Worker is assigned to each client to provide support both before and after admission as well as for the duration of the residential stay. Post-discharge 24 hour telephone support is also available for all clients.

Programme Overview

The treatment centre provides flexible medically managed assisted withdrawal programmes and post Detoxification support, based on individual clinical need. The key elements of treatment include:

  • Withdrawal assisting medical treatment.
  • Harm reduction and health interventions.
  • Medical treatment for the consequences of drug and alcohol misuse.
  • Addressing nutritional deficiencies.

In addition, evidenced based psychosocial and other interventions are also available. These comprise group and individually tailored behavioural and cognitive focused approaches that encompass motivational and cognitive behavioural therapies with relapse prevention and awareness, skills focus and harm minimisation sessions. A variety of techniques and interventions are used, including:

  • Assessment of individual readiness for change and capacity to benefit from detoxification.
  • Motivational Interviewing to empower clients to move towards recovery and abstinence.
  • Contingency Management based on Operant Learning Theory principles.
  • Individual needs-meeting tailored packages.
  • 'Whole-system' case management that supports personalised recovery plans.

Facilities and accommodation

The treatment centre is a former Victorian house that has been attractively and sympathetically restored and extended to a high standard.

The treatment centre is set in its own well-maintained grounds in a tranquil, rural setting.

The accommodation at the treatment centre offers 16 rooms including single occupancy en-suite rooms and double rooms for couples. All rooms boast flat screen TVs and attractive garden views.

Well behaved dogs are welcome.

All residents have access to shared lounge areas, kitchen and dining room.

Private catering is provided for all dietary needs and requirements.
