Kent A3

Introduction

The treatment centre is a residential treatment centre situated in a quiet suburb of Canterbury, Kent - the heart of the famous Garden of England.

We offer a programme of rehabilitation to men and women who wish to recover from alcohol and drug abuse, gambling, eating disorders, internet/gaming and sex addictions.

Our primary focus is upon enabling those who have lost direction to discover new possibilities and bring positive change to their lives. Our recovery programme is abstinence based and provides effective quality treatment for those starting out on the road to recovery. We use a combination of traditional 12 Step, Cognitive Behavioural and Motivational Enhancement approaches, drawing upon some of the latest research in the field. This approach is proving effective with clients who had previously undergone treatment without lasting results.

Our programme helps to re-build families and friendships and enable individuals to become productive and valued members of their communities again.

What makes us special?

  • No large groups - we are a small unit with a maximum of five clients in treatment at any time. This ensures a high level of personal attention and avoids much of the anxiety that many clients feel when confronted by large groups in a therapy setting.
  • High staff /client ratio – providing fresh and varied input from a diverse yet complementary range of professionals.
  • Home-From-Home Atmosphere – The treatment centre is a friendly, comfortable place in which to begin recovery. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. There are no unnecessary restrictions, just common-sense rules for safety and for maximising the effectiveness of the treatment experience.
  • Highly Skilled Professional Staff – Our treatment staff are highly qualified with many years experience in the addiction treatment field. Most have first-hand experience of recovery from addiction.
  • Client Education – We place special emphasis upon helping our clients to better understand how addictions develop and function. Many clients arrive with high levels of shame and guilt , yet little practical understanding of the illness of addiction. Helping clients overcome these highly incapacitating feelings is a crucial step in preparing for a life in recovery.
  • Excellent Value For Money - in terms of levels of personal care, standard of accommodation and quality of treatment and care .
  • After-care and Family Support – available either face to face or via Skype.

Programme Overview

Our treatment programme includes group and one-to-one counselling, supported by complementary therapies including Deep Tissue Massage, Shiatsu Massage, Yoga, Mindfulness Meditation, Art Therapy, Aromatherapy and Daily Diary sessions. Positive leisure activities are an essential part of the programme, helping clients to realise that life without drugs, alcohol or other addictive outlets is something to be embraced and enjoyed, not endured.

The 12 Step approach developed by Alcoholics Anonymous provides a framework for progression from detox through denial and resistance and into the early stages of recovery. Cognitive Behavioural approaches help clients to see how even small changes in their thinking can bring about major changes in other areas of their lives. Motivational Enhancement techniques can be employed to assist clients in recognising that change is desirable as well as necessary.

  • Abstinence from addictive substances & behaviours.
  • Improved and enriched lifestyle.
  • Enable client recognition of the illness of addiction with all its implications.
  • Aid clients in realising the need for help, whilst nurturing belief that with help their problem can be successfully addressed
  • To help clients identify specific areas they will need to change in order to live a constructive life despite their addiction.
  • To help the client translate their understanding into action.
