Understanding the risks involved in taking drugs

Ecstasy is a very controversial drug, there are those who argue it it 'safe' to use if only used on occasions, while others argue that it is unsafe to use no matter what.  The debate continues to rage on, and there is much conflicting evidence to back up both sides of the argument.

However the latest research into the drug, which is often used as a 'party drug', has found that even with one years recreation use, there can be serious memory impairments as a result (Medical News Today, 2012).  But what is more concerning is the finding that individuals may not even be aware of the damage that is being caused until it is too late to do anything about it.  These effects were found in individuals who had never used ecstasy previously, and were monitored during their first year of  using the drug.

It is important to understand the risks involved when using drugs, and having this knowledge can help in promoting anti-drug messages, and ensuring that individuals are as informed as possible when making choices about using drugs.

For those who have misused ecstasy it is important that they also have access to information about where to get help for their addictions, having access to a detox centre UK residents can begin their recovery from their addiction, and continue their journey by accessing formal rehab services if necessary.

Having access to the most up to date knowledge, and a suitable treatment centre is essential in helping individuals overcome their addictions, and begin a more positive life.
